Ford offers two battery-assisted options for the Escape, including a 2.5-liter hybrid (192 hp), which is optional for all ST-Line and Platinum trims. Finally, the Ford Escape Plug-in Hybrid (210 horsepower) boasts an EPA-estimated 37 miles of electric-only range, allowing you to experience EV driving without relying solely on battery power.

Ford Edge

The Ford Edge's powertrain roster is more straightforward, with most models utilizing a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® turbo-four (250 horsepower/280 pound-feet of torque). However, the Ford Performance team livens up the Edge ST with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost® twin-turbo V6 (335 horsepower, 380 pound-feet of torque) and a sport-tuned suspension system.

Both models have nicely equipped base trim. Each comes standard with amenities like keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. They also include Co-Pilot360™ driver aids like Pre-Collision Assist, Blind Spot Information System, Lane Keeping Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. The Escape has a standard 8-inch touchscreen, while the Edge has a 12-inch infotainment display. However, the Escape can upgrade to a larger 13.2-inch touchscreen in Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid models.

While both crossovers have many of the same feature options, the Ford Edge offers a few niceties that aren't yet available in the Escape's lineup.
