A Comparison of the Ford F-150 vs. the Ford Ranger
Ford builds some of the most capable, most popular trucks in the world, starting off with the legendary Ford F-150 half-ton pickup. If you don't need that much capability, the Ford Ranger is an excellent mid-size pickup that can still give you first-rate towing and hauling capability. The F-150 is a full-size pickup that naturally requires a bigger investment than the Ranger but has the best available towing and hauling capability in its class. Here's a comparison of these two outstanding pickups so you can decide which model is right for you at Peru Ford in Peru, IN.

Engines and performance options in the new 2024 Ford F-150
The 2024 F-150 offers a bigger variety of engine choices beginning with a 2.7-liter V6 with 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. After that, Kokomo and Wabash buyers can choose a 5.0-liter V8 with 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The 3.5-liter turbo V6 also gives you 400 horsepower but ramps up to 500 pound-feet of torque. The Raptor model is available with a 3.5-liter turbo V6 with 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque as well as a 5.2-liter V8 with an astounding 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.
Engines and performance options in the new 2024 Ford Ranger
The mid-size Ford Ranger has been redesigned for the 2024 model year and is stronger than ever. The base model is equipped with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. A new 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 is now available to North Manchester and Greentown buyers with 315 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The Raptor comes with a 3.0-liter turbo V6 with 405 horsepower and 430 pounds-feet of torque. Like the F-150, the new Ranger offers available four-wheel drive for most models and as a standard feature on the off-road-ready Raptor model.

A comparison of towing and hauling capability
The larger Ford F-150, of course, has greater towing and hauling capability than the Ford Ranger. In fact, it offers more available towing and hauling than any other full-size pickup in America. The F-150 gives Bunker Hill and Logansport drivers up to 13,500 pounds of towing capacity which is the best in the class. It also can pack a payload of up to 2455 pounds. The Ford Ranger holds its own in the mid-size pickup segment with a maximum towing capacity of 7500 pounds and a maximum payload of 1805 pounds.
A comparison of features
The F-150 has a bigger variety of trim levels so you can decide how much luxury and off roading capability fits your budget. Both the F-150 and the Ranger give you best-in-class technology including the Pro Trailer Backup Assist system. Both trucks give you plenty of variety but the F-150 offers more of just about everything. For example, the top trim F-150 Platinum can come with available leather upholstered Recaro front sport seats with suede trim and distinctive Rhapsody Blue accents. The Ford Ranger Lariat model offers luxurious genuine leather upholstery and heated seats.

A comparison of size
The Ford F-150 is longer than the Ranger, coming in at up to 232.0 inches of maximum length. Meanwhile, the 2024 Ford Ranger still gives you plenty of length at up to 210.9 inches. If you need the extra length for hauling, the Ford F-150 is the better choice but if you can accomplish all you need with a shorter truck, the more affordable Ford Ranger is worth considering.
